Ok, I'm taking a deep breath. . . this is scary. . .

Hi everyone,

You are all cordially invited to visit my new website www.ultrastory.com.

The motto is -- "From the world beyond the marathon." It's in its infancy
yet, but there are some stories and photos you might like. Included is the
unedited version of my "off course in ultras" story "Next stop, the Twilight
Zone," from the May Ultrarunning Magazine. Has a nice photo of Sherpa John
in the aftermath of last year's Pittsfield Peaks Ultra Challenge (he got off
course, great story). Sadly, they didn't use any photos in the magazine
story.

I'm hoping to post news of ultrarunners -- especially my fellow mid- to
back-of-the packers -- on the Ultra News page. so if you have any
milestones, like a first ultra, or anything you think is noteworthy, send it
to me at unews@ultrastory.com. Send a pic too, if you can. Also if you're
putting on an ultra, be honored to give it a mention.

Only requirement for posting is that what you send be ultra-related. Bits
about ultra-running Moms, dogs, boyfriends, girlfriends -- all welcome. If
in doubt -- send it out!

Love to hear comments, critiques, ideas for content. I'm getting ready to
start a multi-part piece on Grand Slamming for the articles page. My friend
Willie Lambert made Western States, so took the opportunity to sign up for
the GS. I'm interviewing him tonight for part 1 -- about how he's training,
what the family thinks and so forth. Also hope to have some quotes from
other Slammers about what Willie can look forward to. I'll interview him and
other Slammers again after each race.

Willie's a Leadville finisher, so I'm confident he's going to go the
distance. I've always been curious about the slams, so this is a way to
satisfy it without actually trying one!

Also planned for the site -- a story about "mixed marriages" -- ultrarunners
and non-runners, and a story I mentioned on the list not too long ago -- 10
rough races in 10 tough places.

Anyway, I have high hopes for ultrastory.com -- my highest being that you'll
like it and visit often and send news of u to post.

Thanks for being out there. See you at the races!!
