Rallarvegsløpet is a 2-day race that will be arranged for the 8th time on the 24th and 25th of July 2010. The epic run follows narrow roads in beautiful scenery from the fiords of Western Norway up through a steep valley to the open and wild mountains.
The first leg, on Saturday, is 54 km long and starts at sea level in Flåm with finish 1222 m above sea level at Finse. The second leg, on Sunday, is both shorter and easier. It starts at Finse and finishes at Haugastøl 998 m above sea level.
To reach the finish day one before darkness, the participants should be able to run a marathon in about 4 and a half hour. The race is self supplied, but it is possible to make a depot at 20 kilometres.
The registration is opened, and the number of participants will be limited to 80. Last year Rallarvegsløpet had 48 runners at the starting line and 47 of them finished both legs.
The runners stay at Hotel Finse 1222 from Friday 24th of July till Sunday 26th of July. To go to Finse and further to the start it is necessary to travel by train. Flåmsbana, the railway line down to Flåm is described as one of the most spectacular in the world.
Each participant books tickets and rooms by themselves. Ask for the "special prize for participants in Rallarvegsløpet" at the hotel.
