The VIENNA TO BUDAPEST race is a 5 day-stage race which were run from 19 till 23 October and consist of 93.3km,115.6km, 60.5km, 59.2km and 21.09km.
The overall winner by men and women wins 1.500.000 HUF or 6000 EURO (7800 USD)

In 2004, the 15th Vienna-Budapest Supermarathon covering 352 km on the route reaching through Vienna-Sopron-Gy?r-Tata-Budakeszi-Budapest, was an unforgettable experience for about 1000 racers coming from 11 countries.
In the individual race 34 runners, including 5 women, lined up from 7 countries. Finally 25 athletes, (including 5 women and 20 men) finished the race successfully. In the men’s competition the contest was appealing, exhilarating and of high quality. The first stage (93,8 km) was completed by the Hungarian favourite, Attila Vozár with an unbelievable performance. He reached home 35 minutes earlier, than the others. He was leading confidently with 22 minutes before the finishing day (halfmarathon). Notwithstanding a serious injury, he could hold his handicap till the tape. Last-year-winner, the Polish Thomas Chawawko held out this year as well, and finished the competition on the 2nd place. The former 6-times-winner János Bogár finished on the 3rd place. The winner of 2002, the Russian Anatoliy Krouglikov became the 4th. In the field of women, the world-famous athlete of ultrarunning, the German Maria Bak won confidently, dominating during all the five stages. (Lukovics Miki)
