Nike Air Zoom Skylon
A lightweight trainer for training and racing

The aim of the Air Zoom Skylon is to provide a shoe that works with - and is at one with - the foot while bringing it lower to the ground. By incorporating the Nike Free natural motion design philosophy, the midsole and outsole are strategically broken up to allow the foot to flow through the gait cycle and perform more naturally. Breaking up the midsole also provide weight reduction benefits for the shoe. In addition, the full-length Zoom Air cushioning unit gives great shock protection and cushioning where it’s needed most. The Air Zoom Skylon is built for the runner looking for a fast and smooth training and racing shoe.


Upper:
• Unique one piece construction with welded overlays to reduce weight, friction and heat
• One-piece construction helps keep foot centred on top of the platform with a minimum of material layers


Midsole:
• Unique midsole construction features a Phylon top level with full-length Zoom Air unit leading to a Nike Free-inspired light and durable Phylite lower level
• Full length Zoom Air unit for responsive cushioning
• TPU midfoot shank on lateral side for enhanced midfoot support
• ‘Control at Origin’ isolated lateral crash pad to slow rate of pronation at initial impact and provide impact resistant cushioning
• Overall cushioning volume helps reduce rate of midsole compression meaning that, with use over time, the amount of stress passed onto the body’s muscle, tendon, ligament and skeletal tissue reduces, improving running efficiency over hard surfaces


Outsole:
• Nike Free-inspired anatomically correct Phylite flex groove pattern linked to Phylon midsole allows the foot to flow through the gait cycle and perform more naturally
• Ultra minimal BRS 1000 Carbon rubber outsole for traction and durability
• Duralon rubber for lightweight cushioning
